Alexa will soon be able to speak to you in the voice of Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan. Owned by Alexa, Amazon introduced Bachchan’s voice to attract more users to the application, overtaking its rivals, Apple’s Google Assistant and Siri. With the release of the voice of the 78-year-old actor, the American company also released its first celebrity voice film in India. The company first tried the celebrity voice in the United States in 2019 when it brought the voice of American actor and producer Samuel L. Jackson on board for its voice assistant.
How can customers use Bachchan’s voice on Alexa?
For an introductory price of Rs 149 per year, customers can use Bachchan’s voice on their Alexa voice assistant feature. The feature can be purchased online from the Amazon website or customers can simply tell Alexa, “Alexa, introduce me to Amitabh Bachchan.” Once customers have made the payment, they can use Bachchan’s voice on their voice assistant. Like Alexa, customers can activate the voice assistant with the activation word “Amit Ji”. It is important to note that the Alexa wake-up word next to “Amit Ji” remains active.
While the company announced its plans to use Amitabh Bachchan’s voice last September, it was finally able to bring the actor’s voice to market after working on the intricacies last year.
What can users talk to Amitabh Bachchan about?
From hearing his own life stories to being asked to recite poems by his father Harivansh Rai Bachchan, there are countless ways for users to listen to the actor’s voice. For example, users can ask the voice assistant “Amit Ji, play songs by Kabhi Kabhi” to listen to the tracks from his superhit films. The company will also introduce the features like clock, music and weather updates in the actor’s voice. Users can also ask, “Amit Ju, tell me a funny story” to hear some of the behind-the-scenes stories from his life. To better understand what the voice assistant is capable of, users can simply ask, “Amit Ji, what can you do?” And the voice will respond in either Hindi or English asking for all the things it can do.
