Fourth FIR against Param Bir Singh, Sachin Waze for blackmailing the hotelier in Goregaon


    Goregaon Police on Friday registered an FIR against former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh and released Deputy Police Inspector Sachin Waze, who is currently on remand, for allegedly extorting cash and valuables worth Rs 11.92 lakh from a hotelier.

    This is the third FIR against Singh; There are two investigations against him by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). Singh, who was promoted to DG Home Guards earlier this year, went on vacation after writing a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray claiming Interior Minister Anil Deshmukh asked police officers to collect Haftas from hoteliers in Mumbai.

    The 48-year-old applicant is a businessman, contractor and contractor who receives tenders from the Maharashtra Police and BMC. He also has a criminal record and is registered against him with the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) as well as the CBI and ED. The applicant is also among the 28 accused, including Param Bir Singh, who was charged with extortion on July 30 at Thane Nagar Police Station.

    In the FIR, the businessman told the police that his business was doing well in 2000-2001 when he received blackmail calls and filed an FIR with the Mumbai Police Department for extortion at the time.

    The case was turned over to the Criminal Investigation Department and he contacted Sachin Waze. Waze contacted him in 2010-2011 to learn how BMC tenders are conducted.

    In January-February 2020, Waze came to the complainant and informed him that Param Bir Singh would be the new police superintendent and asked him to open his hotel business. Waze said that Singh would entrust him with the “collection work”. Accordingly, the complainant resumed hotel operations and Singh became police superintendent in March and Waze was resumed in June.

    The complainant opened the hotel in the area of ​​responsibility of the Goregaon Police Station in Goregaon (w). After opening the hotel, he received blackmail calls from Waze and Waze’s aides Sumit Singh aka Pintu, an Alpesh who runs an Angadia shop, Vinay Singh aka Bablu, and Riyaz Bhati.

    “In order to avoid any nuisance by the local police in the operation of my two hotels in Goregaon and Andheri, the defendants took Rs 9 lakh in cash and two cell phones valued at Rs 2.92 IPC registered against Singh, Waze and four others.
