Some iPhone users are complaining of a “no service” issue after updating to iOS 14.7.1. The iOS update released late last month should fix an Apple Watch unlock bug and a zero-day vulnerability. However, several users have reported on Apple’s forums that they had problems with network coverage after installing the iOS 14.7.1 update on their iPhone models. The problem doesn’t appear to be limited to any particular model and appears to have affected people using older phones, including the iPhone 6s and iPhone 7, as well as newer iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 models.

Affected users have filed complaints about a no-service issue on the Apple Community forums. Some of them have reported the same problem on the Apple developer forums as well.

“After I updated my iPhone 11 to iOS 14.7.1 (sic), I lost the signal. Carrier was not found, ”wrote one of the affected users on the company’s community forums.

Some iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, and iPhone 7 users replied to the original forum post to confirm that the problem is affecting their phones as well. The user complaints were initially noticed by 9to5Mac.

Apple has created a support page specifically for users who typically have no service or network scan problems on their iPhone or iPad (cellular version). The site recommends users to restart their device, check for carrier settings updates, and reset network settings if other recommendations don’t work.

Some affected users said they tried following Apple’s tips on their support page, but nothing worked for them.

“I’ve tried all the troubleshooting steps and still can’t get it [the iPhone] to work, ”said one user in a post on the Apple developer forums.

Some users also commented on the 9to5Mac article that they were facing network issues even with the latest iPhone models – the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro.

With iOS 14.7.1, Apple offered a fix for an issue that prevented Touch ID on iPhones from unlocking an Apple Watch with “Unlock with iPhone” enabled. The software also fixed a zero-day vulnerability for which the Indian government had also urged users to update their iPhones. However, it seems that while the iOS 14.7.1 update fixed some of the previous issues, it introduced the annoying network problem for several users.

Gadgets 360 has approached Apple for a comment on the matter and will be updated if the company replies.

In particular, this isn’t the first time Apple has released a new public version of its iOS that is causing problems for some users. In June, some users reported serious battery drain issues after updating to iOS 14.6. Several iPhone users also complained about a similar battery drain issue after installing iOS 14.2 in December.

Given the number of complaints Apple has received on its forums, we can assume that users will reach a resolution in the days to come. It could be available in the form of iOS 14.7.2, although the Cupertino-based company is also reportedly working on iOS 14.8, which could come out sometime before the expected iOS 15 release.
