Battlegrounds Mobile India: Within less than two months of its launch in India, Battlegrounds Mobile India, or BGMI, had a whopping 50 million or 5 crore downloads on the Google Play Store. Developer Krafton announced the development on Monday. To celebrate its success, the company is making a number of rewards available to users, including a permanent “Galaxy Messenger Set” outfit. Ahead of the 50 million download mark, Krafton had previously announced some special rewards that gave users three delivery coupon crate junk when the game was downloaded by 48 million and 49 million users, respectively.

While the performance is remarkable especially in the short span of time, it’s not exactly surprising considering how popular the original PUBG was in India before it was banned by the Indian government for security reasons. It is estimated that the game had a user base of 33 million in India before it was banned.
Commenting on this success, Wooyol Lim, head of the BGMI department at Krafton, said: “I’m looking forward to an equally strong response to our first eSports tournament starting next month.”
In the statement, Krafton also confirmed an upcoming iOS version of the game in India. No schedule has been announced yet, however, and the company simply said, “Krafton will be making announcements about the iOS version of the game on Battlegrounds Mobile India’s social media channels very soon.”
