Amazon officially announced the covers of the Kindle Paperwhite the 11th ahead of the company’s fall event on September 28th. The new Kindle is available in three flavors: a standard model (with or without ads), a signature edition, and one for children. All versions of the Kindle Paperwhite 2021 will hit the market on October 27th. Pre-orders are currently only available from Amazon, but we will update this post with additional retailers as they become available.
The new base Kindle Paperwhite is the 11th generation ad-supported model that starts at $ 140. The price represents a $ 10 increase over its predecessor, but the last generation model has seen some major discounts in recent months. We’ll see if the higher price is warranted once we do our full review, but improvements like a bigger screen, USB-C charging, longer battery life, adjustable color temperature, and faster processor sound that is more appealing on paper. Omitting the lock screen ads will cost you an additional $ 20, bringing the ad-free Paperwhite to $ 160.

Amazon’s new Kindle Paperwhite has a 6.8-inch e-ink display with adjustable color temperature for reading at night. It also has a faster processor, extra battery life, IPX8 water resistance, and – finally – a USB-C port.
The more expensive step-up level is the new Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition. This model offers wireless Qi charging, a massive (for e-books, mind you) 32 GB memory and a light sensor that automatically adjusts the display lighting to the ambient light conditions, a function that was previously reserved for the Kindle Oasis. The ad-free Signature Edition costs $ 190.

The Premium Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition offers the same design and performance as the new base model, but with more storage space, an automatic light sensor and wireless Qi charging. It’s also only available in an ad-free configuration.
Finally, Amazon is offering a new Kindle Paperwhite aimed at children. The appropriately titled Kindle Paperwhite Kids is the same as the base model but comes with a one-year subscription to Amazon Kids Plus that gives your child access to a plethora of kid-friendly books and audiobooks. The kids model also comes with a two-year guarantee and a child-friendly cover that is available in three different designs. The Kindle Paperwhite Kids is $ 160, just like a standard, no-ad Paperwhite model, and it isn’t ad-supported either.
