German NGO is suing BMW and Daimler for refusing to tighten CO2 emissions targets


The heads of a German environmental NGO have sued the car manufacturers BMW and Daimler for refusing to tighten their CO2 emission targets and foregoing fossil fuel cars by 2030, the Handelsblatt reported on Tuesday.

The non-governmental organization Deutsche Umwelthilfe confirmed to Reuters that the lawsuits had been filed on Monday evening.

BMW and Daimler confirmed to Reuters on Monday that they had not accepted the NGO’s demands.
