PS5 Restock Tracker: PlayStation Direct has consoles today, Best Buy later this week

There have been a lot more PS5 replenishment options this month than there have been in recent months, which was great for anyone still trying to get their hands on one. Emails have been sent confirming that there will be a PS5 replenishment through PlayStation Direct invitations at 3 p.m. east today, which could mean a public queue will open for consoles at 5 p.m. east. If you can’t get in line for this replenishment, current rumors suggest that we might see a replenishment from Best Buy this Wednesday or Thursday.

Recently, PlayStation Direct invitations have been released. To ensure that you are eligible, make sure that you have subscribed to all promotional emails in your PlayStation account settings. Once you’ve done this, the best thing to do is to keep an eye on your email every day, including any spam or promotional folders. Aside from PlayStation Direct, we’re also keeping an eye on Best Buy and Amazon, as those stores haven’t had a PS5 drop this month.

Why is the PS5 so hard to find?

There are three big reasons you’re still struggling to get a PS5. The first is the most obvious: the system is very popular. Sony says the PS5 is the top-selling console and has sold 10 million units since launch.

The second reason is the current chip scarcity that affects most of the world’s electronics. Sony said it secured enough chips to meet its goal of 14.8 million consoles for the fiscal year.

The last reason is all about bots. Resellers use software to buy huge numbers of PS5s at once, leaving few for real people. Retailers have added various bot protections during the PS5 replenishment, but these restrictions are only that hindering the resellers.

Where has the PS5 been available lately?

Stock refreshments have been few and far between this month, although they accelerated this week. Here’s a look at recent PS5 restock history:

  • Antonline: Aug. 31
  • Walmart: August 25th, September 16th
  • PlayStation Direct: August 17, 19, 24, September 10, 14, 15
  • GameStop: September 17th, 25th, 14th
  • Amazon: August 25th, September 2nd
  • Destination: August 27th, September 10th
  • Best buy: July 23

How do I get a PS5 from PlayStation Direct?

The store with the most common PS5 restocks is Sony’s official store, PlayStation Direct. Drops typically occur at 2:00 p.m. PT (5:00 p.m. ET) during midweek (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). What Sony has been doing lately is giving out a few happy email invites for exclusive access to the store, which usually starts at 12 p.m. PT (3 p.m. ET).

In order to receive one of these special invitations, you not only need luck, you also need a PSN account. You can sign up for one on the PSN website and it’s free. When signing up, be sure to accept marketing emails from Sony. From here on it is important to be patient and have a little luck on your side. It seems like priority access emails are being sent randomly, but you’ll need to join one of the queues on PlayStation Direct to be considered.

Replenishing PlayStation Direct PS5 works a little differently than other retailers. At start time there is a welcome page with a countdown clock that shows when the queue starts. You can stay on this page and when the time runs out the website will start putting people in line to buy a PS5. The page will update and tell you how long to wait, but it is not a guarantee. To increase your chances, once you’re in a queue, share the link with your other devices like your phone. Make sure that each device uses a different IP address (for example, if your phone is on the cellular plan while your computer is using your home Wi-Fi). This can improve your chances as your other device may get tucked into a different line that moves faster. Even if you don’t get a PS5 as mentioned earlier, you can still get a pass to buy one on the next go through.

What tips are there for buying a PS5?

Large retailers like Walmart, GameStop, Amazon, Target, and Best Buy don’t usually disclose much before a replenishment. Sometimes it is refilled in the morning, sometimes in the afternoon and sometimes even in the middle of the night. Here are some tips to help you make the leap ahead of the competition.

First tip: don’t wait to see a PS5 inventory loss warning. Check the links at major retailers for updated stock levels daily or even several times a day. (We’ve listed them all below.) If you have PS5 availability, go all-in with as many browsers and devices as possible. For example, open the dealer page in Chrome, Firefox and Edge on a desktop. Then do the same on your phone and tablet. The more devices and browsers, the better. It’s like with lottery tickets: the more you have, the better your chances of winning.

Second tip: create accounts with the various retailers and make sure you are already signed in when you try to get a PS5. Make sure all of your shipping, billing, and payment information is updated on whatever device you can buy from, whether it’s a laptop, desktop, or phone. This makes the check out much faster, which is crucial as retailer websites stall quickly, causing people to lose their chance of getting a PS5.

Third tip: keep checking back with this post and follow CNET and Oscar Gonzalez on Twitter for updates.

How do I get early access to a PS5 replenishment?

It has already been explained that one of the best ways to make sure a console is ready to buy right out of the box is to make sure you’ve created an account and signed in, but there is another way to skip the line a bit too . While most retailers really want you to show up when something is in stock, the added difficulty of getting a PS5 has encouraged GameStop to offer its paying members early access to sales.

If you want to increase your chances of getting a PS5 from GameStop, all you have to do is enroll in the PowerUp Rewards Pro program. This is a subscription program that GameStop has had for years and uses this program to offer discounts and coupon codes as well as a subscription to Game Informer magazine.

This program costs $ 20 a year, and if GameStop keeps its promise, participants in this program can get a PS5 before it’s available to everyone on the site.
