Amazon Inc has stated that it has zero tolerance for transplants and will fully investigate corruption allegations while its legal representatives have reportedly bribed officials. The US company has reportedly opened an investigation into the conduct of its legal representatives in India. Amazon said they have no tolerance for corruption and will take reasonable action.

“We have zero tolerance for corruption. We take allegations of inappropriate acts seriously, investigate them fully and take appropriate action. We are currently not commenting on any specific allegations or the status of an investigation, ”said Amazon.

The Morning Context news agency reported Monday that a whistleblower within Amazon reported the corruption problems in its Indian operations. The company is investigating allegations that legal fees paid by the company were used by legal representatives as bribes. Amazon has reportedly also put a senior employee on leave, the news agency said, citing sources from the internal legal department.

The whistleblower said that some of the legal fees paid to an independent attorney were used “to bribe government officials.”

This came after the Supreme Court cleared an antitrust investigation against Amazon India and Flipkart for allegedly abusing their dominance through deep discounts and preferential treatment from some vendors.

Amid it all, Amazon’s new chief executive officer is aiming for growth in India as it rivals Mukesh Ambani’s Walmart-backed Flipkart and JioMart. The company is committed to digitizing 10 million small businesses, securing $ 10 billion in exports, and creating 2 million jobs in the country by 2025.
