SpaceX’s Inspiration4 orbital mission with four non-professional astronauts was in every way a triumph in space history, space tourism, and fundraising for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. However, there may have been some tense moments when it came to using the restroom aboard the Crew Dragon spaceship.

SpaceX founder Elon Musk tweeted Monday night that the Inspiration4 crew had some “challenges” with the loo. He promised upgrades for future missions.

Definitely improved toilets 🙂 We had some challenges with it this flight.

For better or for worse, Musk did not go into the exact challenges. The four-person civilian crew consisted of billionaire Shift4 Payments founder Jared Isaacman, St. Jude’s medical assistant and childhood cancer survivor Hayley Arceneaux, geoscientist Sian Proctor and aerospace expert Chris Sembroski.

SpaceX didn’t reveal much about how the toilet worked, but Isaacman told Insiders in July that the facilities were near the The large dome window of the spaceship with a curtain for a little privacy. He described the toilet as a “hell of a prospect”.

Toilets in space can be tricky. the The International Space Station ISS has got a new toilet last year. It uses a suction system to keep debris from floating around and has upgrades to better accommodate female astronauts.

European Space Agency astronaut Thomas Pesquet flew to the ISS with a Crew Dragon earlier this year and tweeted a photo of the toilet on its journey.

Inspiration4 spent three days in orbit before returning to Earth with a splash on Saturday. That’s three days in which you use the bathroom in weightlessness while you are in confined spaces with others. Anything that improves the toilet situation will undoubtedly be welcomed by the next crew to board the Dragon.
