Windows 11 Now Available For Download In India: How To Get It On Your PC, Top New Features


Windows 11 is now officially available for download in India and worldwide. The new Windows operating system was released as a free upgrade on eligible Windows 10 PCs. It will also be preinstalled on new Windows PCs from manufacturers such as Acer, Asus, Dell, HP and Lenovo. In addition to conventional desktops and laptops, Windows 11 supports a variety of form factors such as convertibles and 2-in-1 devices. It also works with a number of silicon from companies such as AMD and Intel.

Microsoft aims to offer Windows 11 on all eligible Windows 10 devices by mid-2022, as announced in a blog post. In the meantime, the Windows 11 upgrade will initially be available for newer Windows 10 PCs. New PC models from manufacturers such as Asus, HP and Lenovo are now available with Windows 11 preinstalled. More coming soon from partners such as Acer and Dell. Microsoft is also bringing Windows 11 pre-installed on its new line of Surface devices coming to the US starting today.

How to get the Windows 11 update on an existing PC

In addition to new PCs, Microsoft is gradually introducing Windows 11 for eligible PCs. You can check for the Windows 11 update on your PC by going to the Windows Update section. You can also download Microsoft’s PC Health app on your PC to check that the computer is eligible for the update when it arrives.

If your PC is Windows 11 ready, but the update hasn’t arrived yet, you can download the latest Windows operating system using Microsoft’s installation wizard. You just have to Download now in the installation wizard, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

Microsoft has also provided an option to create a bootable USB drive or DVD from its Windows 11 software page. In addition, you can create a Windows 11 Disk Image (ISO) available on bootable installation media such as a USB flash drive or DVD to help you install the new version of Windows on your computer.

Windows 11 features

Windows 11, introduced in June, is Microsoft’s most advanced operating system for PCs. The new version brings a fresh user interface with a centralized start menu and updated fonts and notification tones. It also integrates Microsoft Teams so users can connect with others via chat, voice or video calls. Windows 11 also improves multitasking with Snap layouts and groups. It also supports multiple desktops and has a range of accessibility features like Narrator, Magnifying Glass, Subtitles, and Windows Speech Recognition.

For newer form factors, Windows 11 offers larger touch targets and provides haptic feedback support for styluses, including the Surface Slim Pen 2.

There are also special features for PC gamers. These include DirectX 12, an option to toggle Auto HDR on and off, and DirectStorage, which is said to reduce load times and render detailed and better graphics with an NVMe SSD storage and DirectX 12 GPU.

Microsoft also preinstalled the Xbox app so users can browse, download, and play over 100 PC games. The dedicated app gives access to Xbox Game Pass (membership sold separately) so players can play a range of games on their PCs.

In addition to normal users, Windows 11 can also be experienced by companies and students. Microsoft has made it possible for companies to switch their teams to the new Windows version via the cloud using Windows 365 or Azure Virtual Desktop.

Windows 11 will also get features in the future, including the ability to run Android apps. At the launch, Microsoft demonstrated dedicated access to the Amazon Appstore in the Microsoft Store, which enables new Android apps to be downloaded on Windows 11 PCs.
