Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Casts Will Poulter as villain Adam Warlock


Will Poulter is your Adam Warlock. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 cast the 28-year-old English actor as the man-made cosmic villain Adam, who was first featured in one of the many post-credits scenes of his predecessor Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. 2. Poulter is best known for his roles in The Maze Runner and The Chronicles of Narnia. He has also appeared in the epic western film The Revenant, the crime drama Detroit, and the science fiction film Black Mirror: Bandersnatch. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 writer and director James Gunn has confirmed his casting on Twitter.

See you in a couple of weeks, ”Gunn tweeted Monday afternoon in the US, quoting the deadline report, which first heard of Poulter’s casting just minutes after its publication. Deadline also points out that production of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected to start in November, which coincides with Gunn’s “up to two weeks” message to Poulter.

In the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 post-credits scene, gold-colored Sovereign race guide Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki) revealed an artificial being she swore by, the title superhero group – the Guardians of the Galaxy – once and for all to destroy. A search for Adam Warlock’s actors began in late August, Deadline says, with Bridgerton’s Regé-Jean Page and 1917’s George MacKay also on the list, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Adam Warlock, created as “Him” by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, originally appeared in the then-running Fantastic Four comic series in late 1967. However, he had a subordinate role. It was Roy Thomas and Gil Kane who turned him into Adam Warlock in 1972, an allegory for the Messiah. Yes, Adam Warlock – named after the first man of Christianity – has parallels to Jesus Christ. And it was Jim Starlin who led Adam into cosmic waters in 1975. Adam shared a long history with Thanos on the site, but the Marvel Cinematic Universe variant is now in an entirely different room.

Poulter joins a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 cast with Chris Pratt as Peter Quill / Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper as the voice of Groot and Rocket, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Debicki as Ayesha and Sean Gunn as Kraglin Obfonteri. After the events of Avengers: Endgame, the Guardians are looking for Gamora’s variant from another time. Behind the scenes, Gunn directs while Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is producer.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is slated to hit cinemas worldwide on May 5, 2023. The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is due to appear at the end of 2022 and will be shot together with the third film.
