Apple has planned a virtual launch event for Monday, October 18, which is expected to showcase new MacBook Pro and AirPods models. Ahead of the event, two reports claim the base model of the upcoming MacBook Pro will get 16GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, an upgraded webcam, a new charging brick, and a mini-LED display. The new MacBook models are also said to be powered by Apple’s upcoming M1X chipset. An analyst who shared the information about the mini LED displays mentioned that the displays could have a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
Tipster Dylan (@dylandkt) shared some specs on the upcoming MacBook Pro models. The new laptops from Apple will come as 14-inch and 16-inch models with mini LED displays that will also have smaller bezels on all sides and no logo at the bottom of the screen. The screen is also said to be accompanied by a 1080p webcam. Dylan mentions that the base variants of the MacBook Pro models will get 16GB of RAM and 512GB of onboard storage, and the Apple M1X will have the same configuration for both variants.
Additionally, Dylan mentions that prices will be similar for both MacBook Pro models and that upcoming laptops will also get a new charging brick. MacRumors reports that the new MacBook Pro models are rumored to have a MagSafe charging port that would require the new charging hardware.
Dylan also says the MacBook Pro models no longer have the Touch Bar. The new laptops will get HDMI, an SD card slot and a MagSafe port. In addition, the tipster also mentions that support for more than one display will also arrive.
Display analyst Ross Young mentioned in his response to a tweet that the upcoming MacBook Pro models would get mini-LED displays with the option of a refresh rate of 120 Hz and oxide backplanes. The tweet was discovered by MacRumours. Young also mentioned that mini LED displays are a guarantee and that the panel suppliers are the same who provide displays for the iPad Pro models. It is likely that the new MacBook Pro models will get Apple’s ProMotion technology found on the iPad Pro and iPhone 13 Pro models.
The upcoming third-generation MacBook Pro models and AirPods – supposedly designed like AirPods Pro – are slated to be unveiled during the Apple Unleashed event on October 18 at 10 a.m. PDT (10:30 p.m. IST).
