WhatsApp is reportedly getting a new way to show the status update of a business account. According to a new report from a WhatsApp feature tracker, users can view status updates on a business account by tapping their profile picture on the Business Info page. The function is currently being released for beta testers and is expected to be made available to other users in the upcoming updates. This feature was discovered in WhatsApp’s code a few months ago and was reportedly not available to any user – stable or beta tester – at the time.
According to WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo, the instant messaging app is getting a new feature that allows users to view business account status updates by tapping the profile picture on the Business Information page. This gives users two options – View profile photo and Show status. The feature tracker also noted that Facebook’s own chat app will keep the old method of showing where the status updates can be seen on the Status tab.
WABetaInfo mentions that this feature is only being rolled out to business account users at the moment and that regular WhatsApp account users may get this feature in a future update.
A few months ago this feature was discovered in the code for WhatsApp for Android Beta 126.96.36.199. At this point, the feature was still in development and has not been released for public beta testing.
Earlier this month, WhatsApp Business account holders got another feature called “Collections” that allows them to better organize their catalog and group items into categories. Additionally, WhatsApp reportedly adds a new control bar in picture-in-picture video mode. The control bar allows users to quickly pause / resume a video or open / close full screen mode. The instant messaging app currently has this feature, but only for videos from select platforms.
