The Xiaomi 12 series will officially appear in China on December 28th. The new smartphone series will include two other models, the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro. Just days before the official debut, the company has released several teaser posters of the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro phones through Weibo, revealing their design and specifications. The Xiaomi 12 series phones have been confirmed to carry Surge P1 chips for power management. The vanilla model is said to have a 32-megapixel selfie camera, while the Xiaomi 12 Pro includes a dual-core speaker system with four units, tuned by Harmon Kardon and 120 W fast charging support. In addition, the renderings and full specifications of the Xiaomi 12 series handsets have been typed, leaving very little imagination.
Xiaomi on Weibo shared a number of posts to tease the upcoming Xiaomi 12 series phones. According to Xiaomi, the handsets will be equipped with self-developed Surge P1 chips for power management with up to 120 W fast charging support. The Xiaomi 12 vanilla model has a 32-megapixel selfie camera with generative Adversarial Network (GAN) -based filters. Xiaomi 12 Pro will have a quad speaker system tuned by Harmon Kardon. It will also have 120W fast charge support.
In addition, a report from Gizmochina suggested the display details of Xiaomi 12. According to the report, Xiaomi 12 displays use TCL Huaxing T4 production line screens with 120 Hz refresh rate, DC dimming and 12-bit color. Xiaomi 12 will reportedly receive an exclusive, bespoke “premium-crafted” 6.28-inch curved AMOLED display with a centrally placed hole-punch design.
Regardless, the Chinese tipster Zealer posted practical pictures of the Xiaomi 12 phones on Weibo, showing the handsets in three different colors. Plus, the full specs of the phones have surfaced online.
Xiaomi 12 specifications (expected)
A report from Xiaomiui gives tips on the main specifications of Xiaomi 12. It is said to come with MIUI 13, which is based on Android 12. The latest handset is said to have a 6.28 inch Full HD + (1,080 × 2,400 pixels) AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, frame rate, 419 ppi pixel density, 20: 9 aspect ratio, HDR10 + support and 1,500 nits of peak brightness. Xiaomi 12’s display is said to support a billion colors and probably also have Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection.
Xiaomi 12 is confirmed to contain the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and the leak also says the same thing. It is said to come in three configurations – 8 GB + 128 GB, 8 GB + 256 GB, and 12 GB + 256 GB.
The triple rear-view camera from Xiaomi 12 is said to have a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with a field of view of up to 123 degrees and a 32-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. Xiaomi 12 may have a 20 megapixel selfie shooter.
Xiaomi 12 is said to contain a 4,500 mAh battery with 67 W fast charging support. It is recommended to have 30W wireless charging support and 10W reverse wireless charging. It is said to be equipped with Dolby Vision-supported stereo speakers powered by Harmon Kardon technology. Xiaomi has already confirmed it for the Pro model in a teaser.
Xiaomi 12 Pro specs (expected)
A Weibo user shared screenshots of the Xiaomi 12 Pro order page showing the handset’s full specs and pictures. According to the post, Xiaomi 12 Pro will likely be offered in black, blue, green and pink color options.
Xiaomi 12 Pro is said to run on Android 12-based MIUI 13. It is said to have a 6.73-inch Samsung E5 AMOLED LTPO display with a resolution of 3,200 × 1,440 pixels, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a touch sample rate of 480 Hz. It is said to be powered by the recently announced Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
The triple rear camera of the Xiaomi 12 Pro is said to contain a 50-megapixel primary camera Sony IMX707, a 50-megapixel Samsung S5KJN1 telesensor and a 50-megapixel Samsung S5KJN1 ultra-wide-angle lens with a 115-degree field of view.
The upcoming Xiaomi 12-series phone is said to include a 4,600 mAh battery with support for 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging.
