Google Pixel 6 users complain about sensor problems and break the auto-rotate function

Google Pixel 6 users complain that features like auto-rotate and auto-horizontal photography don’t work on their phones. According to user reports on the company’s support forums and on Reddit, more and more Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro phones are randomly stopping reading some sensors’ data. Auto-rotation and auto-horizontal images will also be randomly interrupted for users even after updating with the Android December patch. Google recently released the December 2021 update for its Pixel phones to address some of the known bug fixes and a list of vulnerabilities.

Some Google Pixel 6 owners say the camera won’t auto-rotate to view landscape photos after the update, while some say their Pixel 6 units sometimes won’t read data from some sensors. Several affected users say they can restart their phones to get the features to work again. Still, it’s not a permanent solution.

According to a report by the Android Police, the latest flagship Google models are prone to bugs in their software. The Google Pixel 6 is said not to be able to read data provided by sensors – gyroscope, accelerometer and compass. According to the report, these sensors do not return data when troubleshooting with the Sensortest app. However, some other sensors such as barometer, proximity sensor, magnetometer and ambient light sensor have been found to work in the device tested by the publication.

Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro users also complained that their phone wasn’t pointing the right direction on the map when using navigation apps like Google Maps. If the compass is not available and the system cannot read the data provided by the key sensors, the Pixel duo cannot detect whether the phone is positioned vertically or horizontally.

Additionally, in their complaints on Reddit, some users have claimed that their Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro units happen to lose cellular service after installing the latest update. However, Google has yet to confirm the issues and how to fix them.

As a reminder, the Gogole Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro were launched in limited markets this October. The Pixel 6 price starts at $ 599 (about Rs. 45,000) while the Pixel 6 Pro comes with a starting price of $ 899 (about Rs. 67,500).
