The Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 monitor, along with two other models from the brand, was unveiled ahead of CES 2022, which is set to happen this week. The South Korean company is expected to present three monitors at CES, including the 32-inch Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 monitor with the world’s first 4K display with a refresh rate of 240 Hz. The monitor offers a maximum brightness of 2,000 nits with the Quantum Mini Company LED backlight. Samsung also unveiled the M8 Smart Monitor, which offers webcam and Google Duo support, as well as the S8 UHD monitor, which is aimed at content creators.
Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 specifications
The first monitor Samsung revealed in a press release (in Korean) is the upcoming Odyssey Neo G8. The monitor is said to be the world’s first 4K monitor with a refresh rate of 240 Hz and a curvature of 1000R. Samsung has equipped the monitor with its Quantum Mini LED technology, which with Quantum HDR 2000 offers a peak brightness of 2,000 nits. The monitor offers a contrast ratio of 1,000,000: 1 and CoreSync for automatic brightness adjustment. It is equipped with two HDMI 2.1 ports and a DisplayPort 1.4. It also has Auto Source Switch + to switch between active sources yourself. The monitor is to be presented at CES 2022.
Samsung Smart Monitor M8 specifications
Samsung has also introduced a second monitor called the Samsung Smart Monitor M8. The 32-inch monitor supports 4K resolution and offers optional support for webcams that can be used with apps such as the preinstalled Google Duo. Samsung Smart Monitor M8 can also be used as a Smart TV as it allows users to stream TV, videos and movies from apps like Disney + Netflix, YouTube and Samsung TV Plus.
With support for a brightness of up to 400 cd / m², the Samsung Smart Monitor M8 offers 99 percent support for the sRGB color space. With a thickness of 11.4 mm, the upcoming monitor is slimmer than the current Samsung Smart Monitor M7 model. According to Samsung, users will also be able to monitor their smart home devices with the SmartThings app and control SmartThings compatible devices.
Samsung UHD Monitor S8 specifications
The third monitor the company is unveiling is the UHD Monitor S8, a 4K resolution monitor that Samsung says is aimed at content creators and designers who work with graphics over an extended period of time. The monitor will be available in sizes 27 “and 32” and offer 98 percent DCI-P3 color space support as well as VESA and DisplayHDR 600 certification. According to Samsung, it has been certified by the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) as glare-free and is supplied with wired LAN support.
Samsung Odyssey Neo G8, Samsung Smart Monitor M8, and Samsung UHD Monitor S8 will be unveiled at CES 2022 and will be launched in global markets (including South Korea) in the first half of 2022, according to Samsung.
