The Gmail app for iOS is reportedly getting a new widget. The second Gmail homescreen widget is designed to display up to three emails from the inbox and a compose button that allows users to compose a new email. The new widget complements the current widget that Google introduced last November. The former allows users to manage their inbox on the home screen of their iPhone or iPad. It includes a compose button, a search option, and shows the number of unread emails in the inbox.
The addition of a new Gmail widget for iOS was discovered by MacRumors. The release also shared screenshots of the new widget. With the latest widget, users can see the content of their latest e-mails directly on the smartphone’s home screen. As mentioned earlier, the new widget supposedly shows the last three emails in the Gmail inbox along with a compose a new email button.
According to the report, the new widget can be added to the Today screen or the Home screen. To add it, unlock the phone and press and hold anywhere on the screen. Then tap that plus in the top left corner of the display and scroll down to Gmail.
Last November, Google added a new Gmail widget for iOS. It shows the sender and subject of recent emails on the home screen. Google started to provide a special widget for the Gmail app for iOS in 2020. Since then, the search giant has added many new features to the Gmail app for iOS.
Recently, Google also introduced support for 1: 1 audio and video calls in Google Chat in Gmail. The company added an update to both Android and iOS platforms. This allows users to make audio and video calls with individual users available in a user’s chat list.
