Motorola Razr 3 Teased by Company Officials; Start timeline, key specs given

Motorola Razr 3 was teased in December and is reportedly in development. However, Lenovo’s own sub-brand has not announced any specifications for the foldable clamshell smartphones. On the other hand, the Motorola Razr 3’s specs have been typed by a couple of reports. It will reportedly get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, a foldable Full HD + display with an aspect ratio of 20: 9 and a primary rear camera with 50 megapixels. It should also boot Android 12 out-of-the-box.

Motorola Razr 3 was originally teased by Chen Jin, general manager of Lenovo Mobile Business Group, through a post on Weibo in December. Chen Jin mentioned in his (translated) post that the Motorola Razr 3 will have “more advanced chip processing power, a better human-machine interface and, of course, a more atmospheric appearance.”

Motorola Razr 3 availability (expected)

According to a report from Tech News, the Motorola Razr 3 will be available later this year. It is expected to hit store shelves in June 2022. The report also mentions that Motorola may delay the launch of the foldable clamshell smartphone even further due to the global chip shortage. The original Motorola Razr was launched worldwide in November 2019, while the Motorola Razr 5G was launched worldwide in September 2020.

Motorola Razr 3 specs (expected)

XDA Developers reports that the Motorola Razr 3 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. The SoC should be paired with 6 GB, 8 GB or 12 GB RAM as well as 128, 256 or 512 GB onboard storage. It should also get an AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. In addition, it is also said to have NFC support, an unnamed secondary display, and support for Ultra-Wideband (UWB).

The Tech News report suggests that the Motorola Razr 3 will get a Full HD + display with an aspect ratio of 20: 9. It will also receive a dual rear view camera with a 50-megapixel primary sensor OV50A Omnivision sensor as well as a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle and macro sensor. At the front there should be a primary 32-megapixel selfie omnivision sensor.

The Technik News report also mentions another 50-megapixel sensor, but speculates that it is a passive part of the main sensor. The cameras are said to be able to record Ultra HD videos at 60 fps. The rear view camera should also record full HD at 120 fps.
