Vi Wi-Fi Calling comes in Haryana, now in 12 circles

Vi (Vodafone Idea) has expanded its WLAN telephony to Haryana. All Vi prepaid and postpaid customers in the state can now access Vi’s Wi-Fi calling service and make and receive voice calls over the Wi-Fi network when their cellular network is unreliable. The telecommunications provider started rolling out Wi-Fi calling in the country back in 2020. At first it was limited to a few circles. Vi’s Wi-Fi calling service is now available in twelve regions.

According to Vi (Vodafone Idea) website, the telecommunications company’s Wi-Fi calling service expanded to a total of twelve circles when it arrived in Haryana. The development was first reported by Telecom Talk. Vi started the service in 2020 as part of a gradual introduction. The operator currently offers Wi-Fi calling to all prepaid and postpaid customers in Bengal, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Kolkata, Maharashtra, Mumbai, Punjab, Rajasthan, UP East and UP West.

With Wi-Fi calling, subscribers can face weak cellular network problems and instead make and receive voice calls over Wi-Fi. Users must keep both VoLTE (Voice over LTE) and WiFi calling turned on in order to use the service.

Users can check this on their phones by going into the network settings. Most of the recently launched handsets are compatible with Wi-Fi calling. When Wi-Fi calling is enabled on the smartphone and network connectivity is low, it will use the connected Wi-Fi network to make normal voice calls. The facility can also be used for international calls.

Vi’s Wi-Fi calling service is free for unlimited plan users. For subscribers to non-unlimited plans or packages, it will be charged according to the base rate plan.

Vi’s biggest competitors in this space, Reliance Jio and Airtel, also offer support for Wi-Fi calling.
