Lenovo leads the way with global PC shipments up 15 percent year over year in 2021, followed by HP, Dell, Apple: Canalys

According to a report by a market analysis firm, the global PC market showed minimal growth in the fourth quarter of 2021. The report shows that shipments of desktops, laptops and workstations grew 1 percent year over year in the last quarter. Worldwide PC shipments increased from 91 million units year over year to 92 million units. The worldwide annual deliveries amounted to 341 million units. According to the report, Lenovo ranks first in PC shipments, followed by HP, Dell, Apple and Acer.

According to a report by market analyst Canalys, global PC shipments rose 1 percent year-on-year, with 92 million desktops, laptops and workstations shipped in the fourth quarter of 2021. In the same period, 91 million PCs were shipped worldwide in 2020. As a result, total PC shipments worldwide reached 341 million units for the year ended December 2021. In comparison, global PC shipments rose 15 percent year over year in 2021 and 29 percent over 2019. 2021 also saw the world’s largest PC shipments since 2012.

The report also mentions that the PC industry had an estimated total value of $ 70 billion (approximately Rs 5.17.510 billion) for global shipments in the fourth quarter of 2021, up 11 percent year-over-year. In 2021, total sales topped $ 250 billion (approximately Rs.18.48.290 billion), growing 15 percent year over year.

Lenovo had the largest share of global PC shipments with 21.7 million units shipped in the fourth quarter of 2021. It was followed by HP, Dell, Apple and Acer with 18.7 million, 17.2 million, 7.8 million units and 6.6 million units, respectively. Lenovo shipped a record 82.1 million units during the year, up 13.1 percent year over year. HP shipped a total of 74.1 million units in 2021, up 9.5 percent year over year. Dell and Apple shipped 59.3 million and 29 million units, respectively, in 2021. Acer shipped 24.4 million units worldwide last year.
