Telangana Industry and Trade Minister KT Rama Rao has strongly suggested Elon Musk set up units in India, saying he would be “delighted to assist Tesla in meeting the challenges”.

Rama Rao’s response came in response to a tweet from Tesla founder and CEO Elon Musk a few days ago, saying Tesla was working on many challenges in starting business in India.

“I’m still working on many challenges with the government,” Musk tweeted Jan. 13, responding to a Twitter user asking for an update on Tesla’s India business plan.

“Hey Elon, I am the Minister of Industry and Commerce for the state of Telangana in India. I am excited to be working with Tesla to overcome the challenges of getting a foothold in India/Telangana. Our state is a champion in sustainability initiatives and a premier business destination in India,” Rama Rao replied to Elon Musk’s tweet.

Elon Musk announced in 2020 that Tesla would establish electric vehicle manufacturing units in India. A Tesla subsidiary called India Motors and Energy Private Limited was formed. The company is based in Bengaluru.
