Google now has a World Easter Egg: Here’s how to find it


Wordle has taken the internet by storm, providing a pleasant yet daunting daily challenge for people who are being forced into their homes around the world due to the ongoing pandemic caused by the coronavirus. For those who don’t know, Wordle is a free game in which you have to guess a secret five-letter word in no more than six tries. It can only be played on a special website and you don’t need to login or register to play. Because of the open access and simplicity of the game, Wordle has become an instant hit among netizens. So much so that even Google found an Easter egg on its search page.

Finding the Worldle Easter Egg on Google is as easy as playing the game itself.

If you search for “Wordle”, the Easter egg will appear in the top left corner of the search results page. The Google logo there is replaced with an animated GIF showing a six-letter word.

The words on the GIF appear with the gray, yellow, and green boxes made famous by Wordle. According to Wordle rules, the gray boxes represent letters that are not part of the secret word of the day, the yellow boxes represent letters that are part of the word but are not placed in the correct order, and the green boxes represent the letters that are placed correctly .

On the GIF, the animation shows two incorrect guesses – COLUMN and GOALIE – before focusing on the last correct word, which turns out to be GOOGLE. We see what you did there, Google!
